Rule-Based Domain & IP Traffic Routing

Sending 100% of your network traffic through proxies can use up proxy bandwidth quickly on video streaming, system updates, or local services. WifiSocks provides Domain Routing Rules so you can decide which websites should bypass the proxy and which servers should be blocked entirely.

1. Overview of the Two Routing Lists

In the admin dashboard under Router Configuration -> Domain Routing Rules (Domain Routing), you have two separate rule boxes:

Rule Box	How Traffic Is Handled	What to Put Here
Direct Access List (Bypass Proxy)	Traffic to these websites goes straight through your physical home/office internet without using any proxy data.	Banking websites, local services, internal portals, or high-bandwidth download domains.
Blocked Server List (Block)	Traffic to these websites is dropped and blocked completely at the router.	Known ad servers, tracking domains, unwanted telemetry, or restricted websites.

2. Supported Rule Formats

Each rule must be entered on a separate line. The router supports the following formats:

Exact Domain: example.com (matches only example.com).
Wildcard Subdomain Pattern: *.example.com (matches any subdomain like api.example.com or shop.example.com).
Single IP Address: 192.168.1.1 or 103.142.25.10.

[!IMPORTANT] Matching Rule Note:
*.example.com matches only subdomains (such as xxx.example.com). It does not match the apex domain example.com. To cover both the main domain and all its subdomains, add both entries on separate lines:
example.com
*.example.com
IP Ranges (CIDR): IP ranges (such as 192.168.1.0/24) are not supported. Only individual IP addresses are supported.

3. How to Add Rules in the Dashboard

Open the router dashboard (http://192.168.105.1).
Go to the Router Configuration tab.
Scroll to the card titled Domain Routing Rules (Domain Routing).
Type or paste your rules line by line into the appropriate box:

Example: Direct Access List (Bypass Proxy)

mybank.com
*.mybank.com
portal.company.internal
192.168.1.1

Example: Blocked Server List (Block)

badtracker.com
*.badtracker.com
ads.example.com

Click Update at the bottom of the card to save.

[!NOTE] Activation Time: Rule updates synchronize through the router filter engine and take full effect across all connected devices within about 1 minute.

4. How to Verify & Test Your Rules

Use the following methods to confirm your routing rules are working as expected:

Testing the Direct Access List (Bypass Proxy)

Go to Proxy Routing and assign an offline or stopped proxy (an unreachable proxy) to your test device.
On that test device, try visiting standard websites (such as google.com). The page will fail to load or show a connection timeout error.
Now open a website or IP you added to the Direct Access List (Bypass Proxy) (for example: mybank.com).
Expected Result: The bypass website loads normally and immediately because its traffic skips the offline proxy and routes straight through your physical home/office internet.

Testing the Blocked Server List (Block)

Assign an active, working proxy to your test device.
Confirm that normal websites load properly through the proxy.
Try visiting a website or domain placed in the Blocked Server List (Block).
Expected Result: The blocked website fails to load or shows a connection error, while all other websites continue to work normally through the proxy.
